Angel Project: Backpacks & Special Help for Cleveland Students

St. Bede’s provides 120 backpacks for students in Cleveland who cannot afford to buy their own. The backpacks are stuffed with school supplies appropriate for each grade level. This is always an exciting time!

Each month St. Bede’s also sends one hundred dollars to each of the four Cleveland schools to help the teachers and staff assist students in need. The money is used for items such as clothes, shoes, coats, underwear, glasses, haircuts and personal products. This is a very rewarding ministry, which includes love and prayers for the students.

Angel Project: Cleveland Care Nursing Home

Teams of St. Bede’s members visit residents at Cleveland Care who have no family or visitors. They see their new friends a couple of times each month for smiles, conversation, and prayer. Gifts are provided for the holidays and special occasions. Holy Communion is provided when requested. They seek to let the residents know they are loved and not forgotten.

Angel Project: Food Pantries

St. Bede’s provides financial support for the work of ESCAPE Ministries in Cleveland and Food for Kids in Mannford. This involves a volunteer from St. Bede’s. Visit their Facebook page for more information.

Additional Ministries

In addition to the above ministries, St. Bede’s members volunteer at food banks, tutor school children, teach yoga to senior citizens, mentor and participate in Education for Ministry, and contribute to Iron Gate, the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, Episcopal Relief and Development, New Hope Oklahoma, Boy Scouts, and Magdelene House.

Kairos Women’s Prison Ministry

Twice a year a special retreat takes place at Mabel Bassett Women’s Correction Center. One of St. Bede’s members has been serving on the Kairos Team that spends the entire weekend in the prison sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Lives are changed in some amazing ways. Our church provides dozens upon dozens of cookies for each Kairos weekend and purchase meal tickets as gifts in support of the inmates. Providing constant prayer for everyone during the Kairos weekend important for the staff and participants. Some members go to the closing on Sunday afternoon to join in the celebration.

Gratitude Notes

Fr. Lee, our Vicar, provides reflections and encouragement from a faith perspective on Facebook. These are also written to let people know about St. Bede’s – who we are and where we are located.

Prayers of the People

Each week people from anywhere and everywhere are invited to send St. Bede’s the names of people in need of prayer. This is accomplished through Facebook and personal request. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you would like to add prayers to our list. The names are added to the Prayers of the People during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The list typically includes 25 – 35 names.
